Kelvin Heights Pier

Only 15 minutes from the airport, the Kelvin Heights pier is a stunning hidden gem that is both accessible and breathtaking. The wooden pier takes you out onto Lake Wakatipu, providing stunning views wherever you look… including down! The water is crystal clear and particularly spectacular when illuminated by the sun, bringing alive the many tones of aqua, blue and turquoise.

What should we wear?

In terms of what to wear; stick to neutrals, nudes or earthy tones. Blue tones also work well here due to the beautiful colour of the lake! Avoid wearing jarring colours and patterns if possible.

How long will it be?

This location is very convenient; not only is it close to the airport, all the gorgeous photographing spots are quite close to each other. I find family photoshoots here rarely last longer than 40 minutes! You won’t need a 4WD car to get to this spot either.

When should we go?

This spot is gorgeous all year round, however I find it is particularly stunning during Autumn and it’s because of this tree!

Kelvin Heights Pier is a gorgeous tucked away spot, located on the stunning Kelvin Heights Peninsula. This spot offers views of the glistening crystal clear waters Queenstown is famous for, with the quaint town scene in the backround, sitting beneath the towering Ben Lomond. Kelvin Heights pier is great in any season. If you’d like to book a photoshoot at Kelvin Heights, click here.
